Henry Ford grew up on a farm, but he didn’t want to be a farmer. Instead, he liked building things, so, when he was 16 years old, he left the farm and moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he began work as an apprentice in a machine shop. He kept learning; he worked hard; and eventually he started a car company that’s still in business today: The Ford Motor Company.
Mr. Ford was always trying to improve things. That’s why he invented the assembly line, which is how they still build cars today!
So if you like to build things, or if you like to improve the way things work, maybe you’ll come up with your own great invention someday. In the meantime, there’s always one thing you can improve: yourself. So keep learning and keep looking for ways to improve. Henry Ford did it . . . and so can you!
