Oprah Winfrey was born in rural Mississippi and lived with her grandmother in a house that had no indoor plumbing. She made it to college in Nashville, where she got her start in television.
Over time, she moved to the top of her profession, and stawyed there. Oprah had solid advice that all of us need to hear from time to time. She said, “Be thankful for what you have, and you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you’ll never have enough.”
Today, as a favor to yourself, take time to count your blessings. In truth, you probably have more than you can count, but try counting them anyway. One of the greatest blessings is the ability to recognize your blessings, and you deserve that blessing, too.
You’ve Got Lots to Be Thankful For. Be Grateful
Gratitude is riches. Complaint is poverty.
Reflect upon your blessings, of which every man has plenty, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
Before you go to bed, write down three “gratefuls” for the day and three “did wells,” which can even include something as simple as doing the laundry. The results can be amazing!
It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.
Count your own blessings and let your neighbor count his.
Let gratitude for the past inspire us with trust for the future.
No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.
Make me hear joy and gladness.
